ShareMauna Kea is the highest mountain in the world from the ocean floor. It is the peak and pinnacle of Hawai�i. When the fierce and strong hurricane clashes with this mauna, the mauna remains �onipa�a (steadfast). The mauna overcomes the storm! In the same way, today the people of Hawai�i are facing a terrible storm of oppression and injustice. This is a storm that has brought a fierce drug epidemic, crime, violence, homelessness, poverty, disease, pollution, brokenness, and desecration in our beloved land. The little of our island home that remains is slipping away. Our hearts are so heavy, as we have seen our �aina trampled upon by greed, lust, and vanity. We have seen the aloha spirit commercialized for profit by those who know not what it is. But though our hearts are sore, like Mauna Kea, we must RISE above it. We must go higher in our thinking, our actions, and our reactions. This is the call of kapu aloha. But where is the source of this mana (power)? And what will be the outcome of this conflict? Listen, pause, reflect, internalize, and share with others the sacred life lessons from stand here on Mauna Kea.
