ShareOn April 29 we were honored to celebrate with Jennifer Desir Hilaire, founder of The Desire Foundation’s "Project 814" program, which WholeLife Church supported throughout 2023, and team, as a recipient of the 2023 Golden Brick Award this year. The Golden Brick Awards are Downtown Orlando Partnership’s exclusive annual awards celebrating the people, projects, and initiatives from the previous year that propelled downtown forward. Project 814 emerges as a beacon of hope in Parramore, tackling food insecurity within a critical food desert. Led by the Desire Foundation, Inc. and Interstruct, this initiative empowers the community by supplying essential resources. In collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank, WholeLife Church and 4 Roots, it distributes 15,000 pounds of free groceries to over 1,383 individuals monthly, alongside offering pantry services with fresh produce and meats. Beyond food assistance, it helps more than 200 people acquire government IDs and secures job placements for 30 individuals. With the support of over 400 volunteers contributing 36,256 hours valued at $1,152,940.80, Project 814 plays a pivotal role in the collective effort to combat food insecurity and job unpreparedness, thereby strengthening community ties. Thanks to nearly $40,000 in contributions from Interstruct Design + Build Inc and The Desire Foundation, Project 814 profoundly influences Parramore's cultural, economic, and civic spheres, promoting poverty reduction and community resilience. WholeLife Church is proud to collaborate with such an amazing group of partners and our members and friends that continue to show up and support our community! #ThisIsWholeLife
