In this episode of 3ABN Today Bible Q&A, Pastor James Rafferty, Pastor John Lomacang, and Shelley Quinn explore a wide range of challenging Bible questions that span both prophecy and practical Christian living. Topics include Jesus’ teaching on swords in Luke 22 and John 18, the identity of the Nephilim in Genesis 6, and the meaning of key end time and heavenly sanctuary passages. The panel also addresses questions about salvation, baptism, spiritual authority, the role of women in the church, Satan’s activity, and how believers can remain grounded in Christ while growing in faith. Send us your Bible Questions! By email: BibleQA@3abn.org 1. My question is based on Luke 22:35 38 and John 18:10 11. Why does Jesus, on one hand, tell his disciples to acquire swords, and then, in a specific situation, prevent them from using them? In another place, he calls those who came after him "like bandits," coming with swords and clubs, yet the disciples themselves, at Jesus' request, possessed such swords? What lesson can be drawn from such a narrative? What spiritual lesson can be drawn from these verses? What spiritual lesson can be drawn from Luke 22:35 38 and John 18:10 11? 2. I have a question about the Nephilim in Genesis 6:24. Some people interpret this passage to mean that angels had relations with human women, producing giants who were part angel and part human. Some also believe the Nephilim still exist today. Can you clarify what this text means? Also, does the word “Nephilim” appear in any Bible translations? Can you explain Genesis 6:24 and the Nephilim? 3. Does a person absolutely have to be saved or baptized to make it into Heaven? 4. Where did Jesus stay until the time He entered the Holy of Holies in 1844, since He ascended to Heaven after resurrection? What was His duty at that time? Mark 16:19 and Acts 7:56 say Jesus is sitting at the right hand side of His Father. How can we relate these verses to my first question? 5. In 1 Corinthians 14:34 38, the Bible tells the role of women in the church. Verse 37 reminds us that this is a commandment. According to Scriptures, should a woman become a pastor? 6. What happened to Satan after he deceived Eve? Where did he go when Adam and Eve were banned from Eden? Does he physically walk the earth? Or does he enter humans and work through them? 7. How do you reconcile Deuteronomy 24:16 with 2 Samuel 12:14? 8. I know that the human race originated from Adam and Eve. So where did all the nationalities come from? 9. According to James 4:4, what does it mean for followers of Christ to separate themselves from sinners? Aren't we all sinners? Can you please explain James 4:4? 10. Who are the four living creatures in Revelation 4:6, and what do they represent? 11. Will all who do not keep the Sabbath be destroyed at Christ's return? 12. In 1 Corinthians 3:10 15, we are told that Jesus is the only foundation we can build on. However, we all have different levels of faith/works, and we all fail daily. If the 'fire' tests the quality of our life's work, what is the 'tipping point' where our mistakes might actually signal a problem with the foundation itself, rather than just the materials? How do we stay grounded in Christ while still being a work in progress?
