In May 2025, a new federal commission was created to help shape national religious liberty policy. Known as the Religious Liberty Commission, it was established by executive order and is housed within the U.S. Department of Justice. Chaired by Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and vice chaired by Dr. Ben Carson, the commission’s role is to advise the White House Faith Office and the Domestic Policy Council.
