There are two major ways people approach studying Scripture: Systematic theology — organizing everything the Bible says into categories. And biblical theology — following the story of Scripture from beginning to end, watching how themes develop over time. Both are valuable. But if we only approach the Bible through categories, we can unintentionally impose ideas onto the text instead of allowing the text to speak for itself.
