How do you study the Bible to grow closer to God? | How to Study the Bible | 04 25 2026 Your Daily Portion Sabbath School Lesson with LD “The Anomaly” Harris (L. David Harris) Most of us remember our first Bible, a gift as a child, or a purchase as an adult. But the deeper question is what value we place on it now. Do we treat Scripture as a treasured possession, or do we take for granted that the living Word of God is within reach every day? Many believers also share the same struggle, inconsistency. We want to read, but we do not always know where to start, or how to study in a way that truly draws us closer to God. This week’s lesson is practical. It is not only about reading more, but about reading better. The Bible is not meant to be skimmed like a normal book. It is meant to be lived, prayed, and applied. Like a lamp for the path, it gives direction. Like daily bread, it nourishes. Like living water, it refreshes. And God promises that His Word will accomplish what He sends it to do. Martin Luther compared Scripture to a mighty tree with countless branches, each one worth exploring. Whether your Bible study is thriving or your Bible has been mostly closed, the good news is this, you can grow. God can strengthen your daily time with Him, and He can teach you how to study in a way that produces abiding, fruit, and real change. Memory Text: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11, NKJV) SCRIPTURE REFERENCES (This Week’s Study): John 15:1 to 8 Mark 1:35 1 Chronicles 16:11 Psalm 119:105 Isaiah 50:4 Isaiah 55:1 to 13 KEY THEMES: Consistency and intentionality in Bible study Seeking God daily and abiding in Christ Scripture as light, guidance, and nourishment Trusting God’s promise that His Word will accomplish its purpose REFLECTION: What is your biggest struggle with Bible study right now, time, focus, consistency, or knowing where to start?
