What does it mean to have the faith of Jesus? | The Faith of Jesus | 05 21 2026 Your Daily Portion Sabbath School Lesson with LD “The Anomaly” Harris (L. David Harris) Revelation 14:12 describes God’s end time people as those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. That expression is powerful because it shows that the law and the gospel must never be separated. God’s people are not only obedient, they are deeply dependent on Christ. They do not merely believe in Jesus in a general sense. They live by the kind of faith that is centered in Him, shaped by Him, and sustained by Him. This truth became especially important when the church needed to recover the balance between law and gospel. Ellen G. White said both must go hand in hand. Obedience without gospel emphasis becomes dry and dangerous. Gospel language without obedience becomes shallow and incomplete. The faith of Jesus holds both together. Matthew 26:36 to 42 gives us a window into what the faith of Jesus looks like. In Gethsemane, Jesus faced overwhelming sorrow and the full weight of what lay before Him. Yet He surrendered fully to the Father, saying in essence, not My will, but Yours be done. That is the faith of Jesus, trust under pressure, obedience in suffering, and complete surrender when the path is painful. So to have the faith of Jesus means more than admiring His example. It means having a living, daily relationship with Him so that His life shapes ours. It means letting Jesus abide in us, becoming the center of our thoughts, choices, and trust. His faith is reflected in our experience as we depend on Him, and by grace His righteousness is credited to all who believe. At times our faith feels weak and fragile. But Jesus is worthy, and He is the true foundation of faith. We do not have to generate saving faith by ourselves. We come to Him, ask for His faith to live in us, and trust Him to do what we cannot do on our own.
