Is God’s Word sweet to you, or only familiar? | ’Tis So Sweet! | 04 30 2026 Your Daily Portion Sabbath School Lesson with LD “The Anomaly” Harris (L. David Harris) The psalmist compares Scripture to honeycomb, sweet, satisfying, and unforgettable. “How sweet are Your words to my taste.” But this sweetness is not empty pleasure. Unlike desserts that can harm the body, God’s Word heals the soul and reshapes the character. When you have been distant from God, you can open His Word and drink from living water that truly satisfies. Psalm 119:104 explains why, “Through Your precepts I get understanding.” God’s commands and teachings do more than inform. They train discernment. They give clarity about what is right, what is false, what is wise, and what leads to life. Bible study is not only about collecting facts, it is about receiving understanding that changes how you think, choose, and live. Isaiah 55 expands the invitation. God calls the thirsty to come and receive what they cannot buy, nourishment for the soul. He invites us to listen carefully, seek Him, and turn from wicked ways and unrighteous thoughts. He challenges us to stop feeding on what does not satisfy and to submit to His higher ways. And He promises that His Word will accomplish its purpose, that He will abundantly pardon, and that those who respond will go out with joy and be led forth with peace. So the question becomes practical. How do we “seek the LORD while He may be found”? Concrete ways include setting a daily appointment, opening the Word with prayer, reading slowly with humility, obeying what you understand, and turning immediately from whatever the Spirit convicts. Sweetness grows when surrender grows.
