How do you move from reading the Bible to truly studying it? | Deep Bible Study | 04 28 2026 Your Daily Portion Sabbath School Lesson with LD “The Anomaly” Harris (L. David Harris) You do not have to be a scholar to study the Bible deeply, but you do need a method that slows you down and opens your heart. This lesson gives three simple practices that turn reading into real study: pray, write, and share. First, pray. Prayer is not optional, it is the atmosphere of Bible study. The Holy Spirit helps us value what is clear and understand what is difficult. When we invite Him to guide us, distractions lose power and the enemy flees. Second, write. Writing forces you to slow down, observe, interpret, apply, and commit. It moves truth from scattered thoughts into something you can remember and live. If you cannot write, read aloud or listen, then turn your thoughts into prayer. Third, share. Telling someone what you learned strengthens it in your mind and blesses someone else. A practical starting point is to choose a short book, Jonah, Mark, Philippians, or 1 John, and work through it slowly. Use a simple verse by verse approach: Pray for the Spirit’s guidance Choose a verse or passage Write what stands out Read again and underline key ideas Write what those ideas mean Pray over how it impacts your relationship with God Share it with someone Ellen G. White reminds us that growth in grace leads to clearer understanding. As God’s people grow, they keep discovering new light and beauty in Scripture. That is why Psalm 119:105 is so real, God’s Word becomes a lamp to your feet and a light to your path, not only once, but continually. SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: Psalm 119:15 to 16 Psalm 119:105 “The Great Controversy,” pp. 599 to 600 KEY THEMES: Deep study requires prayer and the Holy Spirit’s guidance Writing slows the mind and strengthens application and memory Sharing reinforces learning and encourages others Growth in grace brings new light and beauty from Scripture REFLECTION: Which one practice would most deepen your Bible study right now, praying more, writing more, or sharing more? What will you do tomorrow to put it into action? PRAYER: Holy Spirit, guide my mind and soften my heart. Teach me to study Scripture deeply, remember what You show me, and live it with joy and obedience.
