Are you rushing the Word, and missing God? | Time | 04 26 2026 Your Daily Portion Sabbath School Lesson with LD “The Anomaly” Harris (L. David Harris) Many of us have tried the rushed devotional. Wake up late, glance at the clock, skim a chapter, say a quick prayer, then run into the day with a conscience that feels quiet, but a heart that still feels empty. Ellen G. White warns that hasty reading can leave us with little benefit. You can read a lot and still miss the beauty, the depth, and the hidden meaning God wants you to see. God gave His Word so we would know Him, and in knowing Him, love Him more. But that requires time, not perfection, time. Scripture invites us to be like the Bereans, searching the Word with care. The issue is not only that life is busy. The issue is what we surrender and what we protect. Time with God is invaluable. This lesson gives practical steps. Ask God to place desire in your heart and claim His promises. Invite Him to wake you earlier, or to free time in your schedule. Surrender your time to Him, not just your plans. Find a quiet place and be still before God. And keep showing up even when you do not feel like it, because closeness with God is built through consistent choices. New habits take time to form, and we cannot succeed without the Holy Spirit’s help.
